Chennai, Sep 9 (UNI) In a major shake-up of senior police officials, the Tamil Nadu Government today promoted Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order K Vijayakumar as DGP and posted him in a less significant post of Training in the existing vacancy.
Mr Vijayakumar was among the four senior police officials who were elevated as DGPs, an official release here said.
Others promoted as DGPs and posted in the same post were ADGP (Intelligence), New Delhi, K V S Gopalakrishnan, R Natraj, ADGP Prisons, and ADGP Jagan M Seshadri (Civil, Defence and Commandant General).
The government also transferred nine IGs and one ADGP.
Mr C Sylendra Babu, former Joint Commissioner of Police, Chennai City, was tansferred from the present post of Chief Vigilance Officer, Tamil Nadu, and posted as IG Special Task Force, Chennai.
R C Kudawala, IG, Headquarters, was transferred and posted as IG North Zone, Chennai in place of Mr K Radhakrishan, who was promoted as ADGP along with T Rajendran, IG (Training).
While Mr Rajendran was posted as ADGP Law and Order Chennai, a post held by Mr Vijayakumar, Mr Radhakrishnan was posted as ADGP Civil Supplies.
