SP state treasurer Radhe Shyam Gupta dies in Lucknow

Lucknow, Sep 8 (UNI) Samajwadi Party state committee treasurer and former Samajwadi Vyapar Sabha President Radhe Shyam Gupta died here last night after a prolonged illness.

He was 70.

Gupta, a renowned trade union leader, is survived by his two sons. Last rites of the departed soul were performed at the Ganga ghat in Kanpur.

Samajwadi Party President and former UP Chief Minister, Mulayam Singh Yadav has expressed condolences on his death.

In his message, Mr Yadav said Gupta was a social worker and served the traders during his entire life.

'' Samajwadi Party has certainly lost a dedicated worker,'' he said.

Meanwhile, SP state working president Shivpal Singh Yadav, SP leaders, Virendra Bhatia and Bhagwati Singh( both MPs) and leader of the opposition in the State Legislative Council, Ahmed Hasan went to the residence of the departed leader to express their condolences.

A condolence meeting was also held at the SP state headquarters here, where leaders expressed their grief on the sudden demise of Gupta.
