President wishes speedy recovery of Basu

Kolkata, Sep 8 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today wished speedy recovery of veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu, admitted to a city hospital following an injury he sustained at his home on September six.

'' I wish your speedy recovery and good health, '' She told Mr Basu over phone.

The nonagenarian leader injured his head after a fall at his residence and was given a couple of stitches.

He underwent a CT scan at a private hospital near his residence in Indra Bhawan in the Salt Lake area.

A medical board, headed by veteran doctor Mani Chhetri at AMRI in the southern part of the city, said this morning that his condition was stable.
