NSG recognises India as important nuclear power: Nair
Chennai, Sep 7 (UNI) Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chief G Madhavan Nair today described the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) decision to lift the ban on nuclear commerce with India as a recognition of India as an important nuclear power in the world.
In a brief chat with newspersons at the Airport, Mr Nair, who was here to receive honorary doctorate conferred by the Private SRM University, said ''it is a recognition for India in the global community''.
He said India was very much advanced in the nuclear technology and the NSG decision would take the country out of the 16-year-old embargo regime and help the country in advancing its technologies.
''Its a recognition for our achievement and it is going to help us in the hi-tech area'', Mr Nair added.
