Lyngdoh appointed MPCC chief
Shillong, Sep 7 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former urban affairs minister Friday Lyngdoh has been appointed as president of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).
Party sources confirmed here today that apart from the veteran leader, former deputy chief minister Deborah Marak has been appointed as the working president of the state unit by the party high command.
Mr Lyngdoh will replace O L Nongdu who had completed his term as party president.
The outgoing chief had expressed his desire to contest in the coming lok sabha poll from the state's Shillong constituency which is currently held by union tribal affairs minister P R Kyndiah.
'' The change in leadership would strengthen the party in the coming lok sabha election'', party sources said.
