LIC plans to bring more people under its cover in Andaman
Port Blair, Sept 07 (UNI) The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), Port Blair branch has set targets to bring more people under its insurance cover.
Official sources said here today that a total of 31,000 Number of Policies (NoP) and Rs 55 crore First Premium Insurance (FPI) has been planned for the financial year 2008-09.
Last year, the NoP stood at 25,500 while it had more than one lakh enforce policies, on the other hand, a total of 159 death claim, were settled last year, amount for which stood at Rs 1,42,69119, Mr A Bhattarcharya, Branch Manger, LIC, Andaman told media here.
''No claim settlement is pending with LIC in Port Blair'' he added. Referring to the proposed digitalisation of records here, he said it has been completed in some divisions in Kolkata and efforts are on to bring this branch, which comes under Kolkata division, under the ambit of digitalisation as Andaman and Nicobar Islands are considered one of the most profitable market by LIC in the country UNI SKR RH RD 1315
