Govt allots 2,975 tonnes of complex fertilizers

Tiruchirapalli, Sep 6: Government allotted 2,975 tonnes of complex fertilizers for Tiruchirapalli district following the representations made by farmers, according to District Collector T Soundiah.

In a release here today, Mr Soundiah said the farmers representatives urged adequate supply of complex fertilizers during the 'Farmers Grievance Day' meeting last month and their request was forwarded to the State Agriculture Department.

Based on the recommendations of the district administration, the Agriculture Commissioner had allotted 100 tonnes of 16:20:0, 150 tonnes of 10:26:26; 1,625 tonnes of 20:20:0 and 200 tonnes of 15:15:15 complex fertilizers for the district, he said.

The Collector said the fertilizers would be distributed through the cooperative societies and private traders. The Joint Director of Agriculture has been instructed to monitor the distribution of the fertilizers and ensure there was no shortage, he added.
