Puducherry Cabinet meets to discuss financial position

Puducherry, Sep 6: Puducherry Cabinet today met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister V Vaithilingam.

All the five ministers, Chief Secretary (in charge) Naini Jayaseelan, Lt Governor's Secretary Kumarasamy and other senior officials participated in the cabinet meeting, which lasted for three hours in the forenoon.

The official sources said the meeting discussed the financial crisis in general and assessed the shortage in each department.

A report on the fund requirement would be prepared and Mr Vaithilingam and his cabinet collegues would leave for New Delhi next week to seek funds from the Centre.

The meeting, which had a break for lunch, remained inconclusive and would meet again this evening to discuss various other issues, the sources added.
