Moderate intensity quake in Kangra, Dharamshala, Chamba valley
Dharamshala, Sep 6 (UNI) An earthquake of 5.4 intensity on richter scale struck Dharamshala, Kangra, Chamba and other regions of Himachal Pradesh here this morning.
R S Negi, In-charge of seismological laboratory, told UNI that tremors of moderate intensity were felt creating terror among people for several seconds, forcing them to rush out of their houses.
He said the intensity of the earthquake was 5.4 on richter scale. The epicentre of the quake was in Northwest of Himalayas in the hills of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan, he said.
Similar tremors of 4.5 magnitude were felt yesterday morning in Kangra valley, he added.
There are no initial reports of casualties or damage to property, sources said.
They said people rushed out of their houses in panic yesterday when the quake occurred.
