Mild quake in Poonch, Doda districts
Jammu, Sep 6 (UNI) A moderate-intensity earthquake, occurred today in the twin bordering districts of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said.
''The 5.5 magnitude earthquake, with its epicenter at 36.7 degree North latitude and 70.6 degree East longitude in the Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan, struck at 1118 hours,'' an official spokesman from Meteorological Department told UNI.
The tremors however, lasted for around 10 seconds and was felt in Doda and Poonch districts besides some regions in the Valley.
Meanwhile tremors were also felt in these districts yesterday at around 1028 hrs with its epicenter on Pakistan-Afganistan border.
The official sources however, said that there are no reports of any damage or loss of life from any part of the districts so far.
