FICCI hails NSG waiver
New Delhi, Sep 6 (UNI) The Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry(FICCI) today hailed the Nuclear Suppliers Group(NSG) waiver for India, saying it will pave the way for implementation of the 123 nuclear agreement between India and the United States, once it is cleared by the US Congress.
In a statement here, the apex chamber said the Indo-US nuclear deal would be beneficial to India in many ways. It would enable India to get nuclear fuel for all its reactors, which have been running to almost half the capacity. Not just the US, but France, Russia and Australia would also become suppliers of nuclear fuel to India.
It further said the waiver would facilitate induction of the latest technology in nuclear sector, adding, India could expect massive investments in the generation of nuclear power. This, FICCI said, would go a long way in resolving the country's massive need for power for its growth and development.
The industry chamber said the waiver would open the doors for foreign investments in the nuclear power generation and usher India into the world's top nuclear club.
