Rs 12.7 crore to Bihar flood victims by EC
New Delhi, Sep 5: World is dropping in to help the flood victims in Bihar. Now, it is the European Commission who will provide a whopping euros 2 million (Rs. 12.7 crore) as a relief fund for flood victims in northern India and Nepal.
A decision on financing euros 1 million was taken last week to help Nepalese affected by the floods and more than euros 1 million is being mobilised for food aid and other relief activities in Bihar, says a Commission release. The Commission"s Humanitarian Aid department team is on its way from New Delhi to assess needs in Bihar. In the initial stages, the emphasis will be on meeting the needs of the most vulnerable people for food, clean drinking water, shelter, essential household items and sanitation.
