PM calls for facilitating reverse flow of global Indian talent

Chennai, Sep 5 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said steps should be taken to facilitate the reverse flow of global Indian talent resident abroad into India's knowledge institutions.

Speaking after receiving the Honorary Doctorate on the occasion of the 150th year celebrations of Madras University here, which coincided with the Teachers Day, he said a University was a guild of scholars and teachers.

Recalling the central role played by teachers in making an educational institution and the nation, Dr Singh described a teacher as a mentor.

''We need to attract the best minds into our universities just like other nations are doing. We need to attract them from all over the world,'' he said adding ''we need to devise ways and means to facilitiate the reverse flow of global Indian talent into our universities.'' UNI GV ROY JT HT1542
