Pay Panel recommendations applicable from Aug: Minister
Mysore, Sep 5 (UNI) Karnataka Rural Development, Panchayatraj and District Incharge Minister Shobha Karandlaje today announced the revised pay scales of the VI Pay Commission will be made applicable to teachers also from August 2008.
Speaking after inaugurating the Teachers Day celebrations organised by the Zilla Panchayat here, she said teachers recruited in 2006 will get an additional pay of Rs 200 per month.
Stressing the government had all concern for teachers, the Minister said the question of bringing comprehensive reforms in educational system was engaging the attention of government.
Pointing out to predictions the next generation belonged to India, she said by 2020 the country would have the biggest youth force in the world.
The responsibility of moulding the students as worthy citizens of the country from the Primary School itself rested on teachers.
She expressed concern about the disturbing instances of some universities having turned into centres for nurturing terrorists and naxals.
It should be disturbing for primary and high school teachers that their students had strayed from the right path once they were in the colleges.
It was all the more necessary that such tendences at the primary level should be identified and curbed.
