New cars for Punjab MLAs to roll-in soon
Chandigarh, Sep 5 (UNI) There is good news for the Punjab MLAs, the state government had placed an order for brand new cars for the elected representatives of the people.
This information was given by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal while replying to a supplementary by Makhan Singh (Cong) during Question Hour in the assembly here today.
"The purchase order was delayed as some MLAs wanted AC fitted cars while others talked of power steering wheels, your cars will have both features", Mr Badal said when Mr Makhan Singh told him that the vehicles provided by the government to MLAs needed to be replaced.
Mr Makhan Singh made this demand after Mr Badal while replying to a querry by Virsa Singh Valtoha (SAD) told the House that since March last year, 20 staff cars had been purchased by the Secretariat Administration for senior IAS officers including the Chief Secretary.
The Secretariat car pool consists of 67 cars, out of which 20 were deemed unfit for use and had to be replaced.
