"Doctors For You" to help flood victims in Bihar

Patna, Sep 05 (UNI) 'Doctors for you' today announced to launch flood relief operations in Bihar with a team of emergency medicine experts from USA and chalked out a programme to tackle the aftermath of the fury.

Its patron Jainendra Kumar said here that under ''A Week for the Nation'', the special programme, 'Doctros For You',a non profit trust, with Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, Shri Shri Ravishankar and Dr.

Anil Kakodkar amongst its patrons, would launch a flood relief operation in association with Indian Railways, The Art of Living foundation and youth for Equality.

Over 1500 specialist doctors and other volunteers would contribute in the mission, said Mr Kumar adding that they would not only be providing medical aid and treatment to the patients but also prepare programme to tackle the aftermath of the floods.

'Doctors for you' is contributing to the rescue, relief and rehabilitation exercise in a big way, he said.

In the first phase the mission would target the six worst affected districts--Supaul, Saharsha, Madhepura, Araria, Purnia and Katihar. The interim relief team of the trust is already setting control room at Mansi and Katihar Railway stations.

He said in the second phase the trust would undertake rehabilitative work after the flood waters recede.

'Doctors for you' is working in association with the government of Bihar and the Indian Railways which is providing the infrastructural support and conveyance for transporting relief materials and personnel. Bihar government has mandated about 150 relief centres to be managed completely by ''Doctors for you''.

Mr Kumar said the trust was also sending psychiatrists for dealing with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), and veterinary doctors to deal with Zoonotic diseases. The contingents also includes a team of emergency medicine experts from USA, who have the prior experience of dealing with hurricane Katrina and the recent Tsunami, he informed.

Mr Kumar exhorted all medical professionals, specialists, resident doctors, interns, and doctors of alternative medicine to come forward and help the distressed people of Bihar.
