Volkswagen to open 120 dealerships by 2011
New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) Europe's leading car maker Volkswagen Group today said it will increase the number of dealerships in the country to 15 from the current eight by year-end, which will be further scaled to 120 by 2011.
''We plan to have 120 dealers in the country by 2011. We will add seven dealerships by this year-end taking the total number to 15,'' Volkswagen Head of Communications (India) Kurt Rippholz told reporters here.
In 2007, Volkswagen had first introduced to the Indian market, its indigenously built Volkswagen Passat to cater to the premium automobile segment. This was followed by the recent successful launch of the Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagens mid-sized premium car in India.
Volkswagen dealerships are based in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Pune and Ludhiana.
