Rupee steady against US dollar in early trade

Mumbai, Sep 4: The Rupee was trading almost flat at 44.43/44 against US Dollar on suspected intervention of the Reserve Bank of India in the opening trade on Thursday, Sep 4.

The Indian currency was steady against greenback in early trade but dealers expect that it will weaken ahead as lower stocks raised worries about foreign fund outflows and a widening trade deficit. However, the central bank may step in to prop up the rupee. Local currency markets were closed on Wednesday on account of Ganesh Chaturthi.
