RSP achieves all time high production record

Rourkela, Sep 4 (UNI) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited, continued its production growth momentum and achieved an all time best April-August performance.

Company sources said during this August, Hot Metal output stood at 1,90,122 tonnes, Crude Steel production touched 1,82,764 tonnes and Saleable Steel production reached 1,75,070 tonnes corresponding to remarkable capacity utilisation of 112, 113 and 123 per cent respectively.

The production of Hot Metal and Crude Steel was the highest in comparison to any month of August since inception of the steel plant.

The first five months of this fiscal witnessed record performance in several production centres including Hot Metal production of 0.929 million tonnes, Crude Steel production of 0.876 million tonnes and total Saleable Steel production of 0.839 million tonnes.

The April-August production performance figures indicated growth of 6.3, 9 and 3.3 per cent respectively over the levels achieved during the corresponding period of fiscal 2007-08.

During this period, impressive performance was also recorded in the finishing units of the steel plant. Finished products like plates from Plate Mill, Hot Rolled Coils (total), Hot Rolled Coils for sale, Electric Resistance Weld (ERW) Pipes, Spiral Weld (SW) Pipes, Tin Plates, Galvanised Sheets and CRNO steel from Silicon Steel Mill also recorded performance levels that were higher compared to April-August of 2007-08, the company sources said.
