Mayawati preferred ''mum'' over fresh controversy on N-deal

Lucknow, Sep 4 (UNI) Third Front's probable Prime Ministerial candidate and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati today refused to comment on the existing controversy over the Indo- US Nuclear Deal.

'' Let the Centre clarify its stand over the controversy and then only I will react on it,'' was the reply of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister over the issue.

'' I will call you again to convey my reaction after the Centre makes its official statement,'' Ms Mayawati told reporters here this evening when asked to comment on the US President's letter stating that India cannot test nuclear bomb after the Agreement, which was published in the media.

Ms Mayawati led the opposition group along with the Left Parties during the July 22 Confidence Motion of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in the Lok Sabha over the civil nuclear deal with the US.

The UP CM was also projected as the probable Third Front Prime Ministerial candidate during the political development, which gripped the country before the trust vote.
