Honda Siel to hike Alwar plant's capacity to 1.6 lakh units by 2009
New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) Honda Siel Cars India Ltd (HSCIL) today said the capacity of its second car production plant at Alwar in Rajasthan will be increased to 1.6 lakh units from the present one lakh units by 2009-end.
'We have acquired 650 acres of land. The plant will have an annual capacity of one lakh units, which will be increased to 1.6 lakh units by 2009-end,'' Company Vice President (Marketing) Jnaneswar Sen told reporters here.
The company, which will be manufacturing their entire portfolio in this plant, had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Rajasthan Government to set up the production plant at Alwar at an estimated initial investment of Rs. 1,000 crore.
The new plant is scheduled to be commissioned by the last quarter of 2009.
HSCIL, a joint venture between Japan's Honda Motor and Siddarth Shriram Group firm Siel Ltd, has its existing car manufacturing unit in Greater Noida.
