7,500 teachers sans salary, to observe ''black teachers day'
Fatehgarh Sahib, Sep 4 (UNI) Accusing Punjab government of ''apathy'' for five-month delay in issuance of salaries to about 7,500 teachers of the government-aided schools, their union today announced to observe Teachers Day as a Black Day.
Ravinder Kumar Joshi, heading the Government-aided Schools Association in the district, said in spite of regularly intimating higher authorities about the problem, nothing has been done so for.
He also complained that an ever-rising number of students were being taught with depleted staff as filling of regular posts was banned in these institutions.
He has strongly urged the government to address their long-pending demands and release the grant for salary soon.
He said despite several representations, the government has failed to release the salaries, rued some teachers.
Besides, the government is yet to release the interim relief and the hiked medical benefit to the teachers, they said.
