A voluntary funds collection drive for Teachers' Day
New Delhi, Sept. 3 : The National Foundation for Teachers' Welfare will organise a voluntary fund collection drive ahead of Teachers' Day on September 5, here today.
The funds collected on the occasion will be utilized for the welfare of teachers. It will be followed by a cultural function at Shastri Bhawan. Secretary, School Education and Literacy (SE and L) will be Chief Guest of the function.
The fund collection drive will be carried out with the help of students and teachers from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector-II, R.K. Puram and Laxman Public School, Hauz Khas.
After the fund collection drive, the students will present a cultural programme at Reading Hall of Central Secretariat Library, Shastri Bhawan.
The National Foundation for Teachers' Welfare was set up in 1962 with the main objective to provide financial assistance to teachers in indigent circumstances.
The Foundation is operating various schemes like financial assistance for the construction of shikshak sadans, financial assistance to teachers suffering from serious ailments, paid holiday to eminent teachers who have rendered meritorious services, and support for professional education of children of school teachers for the welfare of teachers all over India.
The Foundation celebrates Teachers' Day to mark the birthday of Dr.S. Radhakrishnan, former President, noted educationist and philosopher.
