Swearing in of new Pondy Govt on Sep 4

Puducherry, Sep 3: The new Congress Government in Puducherry headed by Mr V Vaithilingam will assume office on Thursday, Sep 4.

The swearing in of Mr Vaithilingam and his Cabinet Ministers will be held at 0930 hrs at a simple function at the Rajnivas.

Lt Governor Govind Singh Gurjar will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Vaithilingam and his Cabinet colleagues.

While all the four ministers in the Rangasamy Cabinet would be retained, Mr Namasivayam, a relative of Mr Rangasamy, would be the new face in the Cabinet.

Mr Vaithilingam, son of former Chief Minister Venkatasubbarediyar, had held the Chief Minister's post during the ninth Assembly and assumed office on July four, 1991.
