Swami Haridas music in Vrindavan on Sep 7 to 8

Lucknow, Sep 3: Swami Haridas Sangeet and Nritya Mahatsov would be held in the temple city of Vrindavan on September 7 and 8 where renowned classical singer Bhimsen Joshi will be awarded the first Haridas award for his contribution in the classical singing.

Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, winner of Padma award, would receive Rs one lakh cash along with a silver statue of Swami Haridas during the ceremony.

Several eminent singers, musicians and dancers would perform during the Mahatsov to be held at Phogla Ashram, said organising committee secretary Gopi Goswami here on Wednesday, Sep 3. The prominent people who will perform includes Pandit Hariprasad Charuasia( flute),Ms Uma Sharma( dance), Manhar Uddhas, Hansraj Hans( both singers) and Sudha Chandran( dance).

Swami Haridas was the guru of Tansen and Baiju Bawra and a great exponent of Dhrupad.
