Pragatishil Congress activists burn Sourav Ganguly's effigy

Howrah, Sep 3 (UNI) A day after Sourav Ganguly's appeal to support Tatas' Nano project at Singur, Pragatishil Indira Congress activists today burned the former India captain in effigy here.

Ganguly, a Tata Steel employee, said if the Nano car making facility went out, the state would become a 'dark spot' and ''it is the time for us to stand up''.

The supporters of the Pragatishil Indira Congress, which was launched recently by former West Bengal Congress president Soumen Mitra, gathered in front of Bangabashi More with banners and festoons condemning the cricketer's comment.

They also blocked traffic movement and burnt Sourav's effigy in the presence of riot police.
