IMA Mizoram aid for famine-hit people
Aizawl, Sep 2 (UNI) The Mizoram branch of Indian Medical Association has contributed a sum of Rs one lakh for the relief of Mautam (bamboo flowering) famine.
The amount was today handed over to Mizoram Eemergency Famine Committee Vice-Chairman K Sangthuama, who is also the Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sangthuama expressed his gratitude to the doctors in the state for helping in rehabilitating those who had been badly hit by Mautam famine.
There are as many as about 450 members, enrolled under IMA's Mizoram branch, who contributed to the relief amount.
So far, Rs 14,15,513 had been distributed to the beneficiaries, out of a total amount of Rs 38,37,493 received by the emergency committee.
