HC fixes Sep 12 for Punjab Assembly special committee case
Candigarh, Sep 3 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today fixed September 12 as the date for hearing the writ petition filed by former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh challenging the constitution of the special committee by the Punjab Assembly to go into the issue of exemption granted by the previous Congress regime to a piece of land which the Improvement Trust, Amritsar, had excluded from a scheme of residential houses notified by it.
A Division Bench comprising Justices Hement Gupta and Kanwaljit Singh Ahluwalia passed the order for hearing the petition, in which Capt Singh had alleged that the committee had been constituted with "political motives".
Similar writ petition had also been filed by former minister Jagjit Singh Chaudhary and some others on the same subject. It has also been fixed for September 12.
