Cong blames Tatas for not building bridges with farmers in Singur
New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) Blaming both the Tata Motors and the West Bengal government for the unrest in Singur over the Nano car project, the Congress today said the former should have built bridges with the local community.
''To certain extent, it is the responsibility of Tata Motors to build bridges with the local community. You must take endeavour to take the local population along,'' ACC Spokesman Manish Tewari told mediapersons, while alleging that the state government had failed to provide physical security to workers.
Saying that the Singur issue was ultimately one between the Tatas and the West Bengal Government, he maintained that the state government had failed to instil confidence in the minds of the farmers.
Mr Tewari said the state government had also failed to facilitate a transparent discussion.
In this context, he suggested that all should respond positively to the initiative of the state Government to resolve the Singur impasse.
