Centre's relief Measures in flood-hit areas of Bihar
New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) In all 37 Army Columns and eleven helicopters have been deployed for rescue and relief operations in the flood-hit areas of Bihar till today.
Air Force and Army were deploying helicopters to drop food packets and provide logistic support. A total of 596 boats had been deployed and another 88 boats were expected to reach by tomorrow, an official release said here.
A High-Level Central Team headed by the Cabinet Secretary, comprising Defence Secretary and other senior officials of the Government, visited Bihar yesterday.
The team discussed with the Chief Minister about requirements of relief operations. It also reviewed the dropping of food packets by the Air Force personnel, evacuation of marooned persons by different organisations and by the Army Columns.
Three water purifying equipment having a capacity of 6,000 liters per day had been sent. The Ministry of Steel will supply 10 lakh GI sheets for construction of relief camps. The Ministry of Home Affairs was in constant touch with the Bihar government and monitoring the situation round the clock.
