AIADMK demands dismissal of Cong Govt

Puducherry, Sept 3 (UNI) AIADMK Puducherry unit Secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today demanded the dismissal of the Congress Government in the Union Territory.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Anbazhagan alleged that at a time when the new government, headed by Mr Vaithilingam, was all set to assume office tomorrow, difference of opinion on allocation of portfolios were surfacing within the party. Since, Puducherry would not benefit from mere change in Chief Ministership, the government should be dismissed and Assembly elections held along with Parliament elections, due next year, he demanded.

Mr Anbazhagan said when the AIADMK took steps to file a Public Interest Litigation against bus fare hike with the Madras High Court, it was hurriedly withdrawn around midnight last night.

He, however, demanded that action be taken against those who hiked the fare as hiking bus fare on their own was punishable under Section 67 (2) of the Central Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. The the excess amount collected by the bus operators over a fortnight should be remitted to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, he added.
