Uttarakhand granted B-town status
Dehra Dun, Sep 2 (UNI) Former Uttarakhand Mayor Manorama Dobriyal Sharma today thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other prominent representatives of the Central Government for granting Dehra Dun B-2 Township status.
Talking to mediapersons here, Ms Dobriyal said around 40,000-50,000 central government employees of Dehra Dun had welcomed the centre's decison as an early 'Diwali' gift.
She informed that the central government employees of Dehra Dun had been demanding B-2 status since a long time. Around 70,000 employees are working in 112 Central Government offices in Dehra Dun.
During the conference, she presented several letters which she had written to Dr Singh, Ms Gandhi, Finance Minister P C Chidambaram among others in her capacity as mayor, requesting them to accede to the long due demand of the employees here.
