Report on seprate gurdwara body for Haryana awaited: Hooda

Chandigarh, Sep 2 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that the report of the committee constituted under the Chairmanship of Agriculture Minister H S Chatha to consider the issue of separate Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandik Committee (SGPC) for Haryana was still awaited.

Mr Hooda, who was talking to the mediapersons at the Press Gallery of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha today, said that the committee would submit a very comprehensive report, which would require a lot of time. In this regard, there was no pressure from any quarter, he added.

When reminded about the promise of the Congress Party made in the election manifesto to constitute separate SGPC in the state, the Chief Minister said that the Government was still sticking to its manifesto.

In reply to another question regarding the proposed rally by a section of the Sikhs of Haryana at Karnal on September 7, he said that everyone had the right to express his views and organise rallies in a peaceful manner.

Meanwhile a report from Kurukshetra said that the Mr Jagdish Singh Jhinda, who is leading the campaign of the Sikhs for a seprate Gurdwara Committee claimed that many religious and political organisation from all over the country have rendered support to the formation of a separate SGPC for the Sikh community of Haryana. The representatives of these organisations will participate in the congregation of the Haryana Sikhs on September seven.

The congregation is expected to announce the formation of a 45-member seprate body of the Haryana SGPC. The decisions to the taken on September seven, including the formation of the Haryana SGPC would be sent to the chief minister and Governor of Haryana, Union Home Minister and the President of India for their legal consent.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Jhinda said that SP leaders Mulayam Singh and Amar Singh , Lok Shakti Party leader, Ram Vilas Paswan, Haryana BKU leader Ghasi Ram Nain had assured their support and even presence at the Karnal congregation for the cause of the Haryana Sikhs. Mr Jhinda also claimed the support of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, the Jathedar of Takht Patna Sahib and Akali Dal (Amritsar) leader Simranjit Singh Mann.

" A majority of the Sikh leaders, barring Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) are in favour of formation of a seprate religious body to manage the Sikh shrines in Haryana", he claimed.
