L K Advani makes aerial survey of flood-affected North Bihar
Patna, Sep 2 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani arrived here today for an aerial survey of the flood-affected north Bihar districts.
Soon after his arrival by special aircraft, Mr Advani, accompanied by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and JD(U) president Sharad Yadav, left for the flood-affected areas of Madhepura, Supoul, Araria and Purnea in an IAF helicopter to get first-hand knowledge about the disaster.
On his return here in the afternoon, Mr Advani is scheduled to address the media.
Earlier, on August 28, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, along with several other Central leaders, also made an aerial survey of the flood-affected districts.
Later, declaring the situation as ''national calamity'', the Prime Minister announced a financial package of Rs 1,000 crore and 1.25 lakh tonnes of foodgrains.
