Former Ahmedabad mayor passes away

Ahmedabad, Sep 2 (UNI) Ms Anissa Mirza, former mayor of Ahmedabad and leader of the state Mahila Congress, died here today, following a brief illness. She was 60.

Ms Mirza was the first Muslim mayor of the city and took up issues of hawkers and other people from the lower economic strata effectively.

Opposition leader of Gujarat Legislative Assembly Shaktisinh Gohil and other Congress leaders paid rich tributes to Ms Mirza.
