Congress demands financial assistance for BPL patients of Andaman
Port Blair, Sep 02 (UNI) The Congress in Andaman has demanded release of financial assistance for the BPL patients.
The Congress have been pointing out since nearly last one year that due to lack of initiatives from the officials of Directorate of Health Services, the fund for treatment of BPL patients is not getting cleared from the Ministry.
Patients, who fall in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, are going through a tough time as the Administration is unable to pay the cost of their treatment in Mainland based Hospital.
There are dozens of patients in Andaman who have serious health problems but due to non availability of fund in Andaman administration, these patients are unable to proceed to mainland for specialized treatment, Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma the president of Andaman's Congress Unit told 'UNI' today. The president of Andaman's Congress Unit had recently met the Director of Health Services and discussed with him about the problems of BPL Category patients referred by the Andaman's Government hospitals for further treatment.
