VHP donates 10 lakh, truckload relief material for Bihar flood

New Delhi, Sept 1 (UNI) The Vishwa Hindu Parishad today sent a Rs ten lakh cheque, along with other relief and rehabilitation materials, to the Bihar government for its 'Save Bihar' operation in the wake of devastating floods which had hit over 25 lakh people.

Addressing the media, VHP general secretary Praveen Togadia said while a truckload of relief materiaL would leave for Bihar today, another ten would be sent in the next two days.

Expressing concern over the lukewarm response of people and social service organisations over extending help to the marooned in Bihar, Dr Togadia said that being a national calamity, the VHP had directed all its 74,000 units to go ''all out'' in gathering help for the flood affected.

''On September 5-6, VHP cadres all over the country would gather on the streets to collect funds for the nearly 30 lakh people affected by floods in Bihar. We have directed everyone to go all out in providing help.'' Help is also coming from Maharashtra, Assam, Nagaland, Gujarat while other states were being mobilised for the same, he said adding that for the next one week, the entire VHP force would concentrate entirely on collecting relief and rehabilitation material for the flood-affected in Bihar.
