Mumbai, Sep 1 (UNI) Mahindra &Mahindra Limited, of the USD 6.7 billion Mahindra Group, today said it has sold 19,211 vehicles, including exports, in August this year, as against 18,269 vehicles sold during corresponding period last year.

The company exported 890 units in August 2008, as against 831 units in August 2007. M&M's domestic Year To Date volumes for the month of August 2008 stood at 92,490 units, as against 82,328 units in the same period last year.

Mahindra&Mahindra's Farm Equipment Sector significantly consolidated its leadership position in the tractor industry in August 2008 with a sale of 7,000 tractors as against 6,011, sold during the corresponding month last year, achieving a 16 per cent growth.

Exports during the month were 597, as against 561 for the same period last year, a growth of six per cent. Total sales (domestic + exports) for the month were 7,597, as compared to 6,572 for corresponding period last year, a growth of 16 per cent.

Cumulatively, during this fiscal, Mahindra &Mahindra tractors sales in the domestic market were 41,455 units, as compared to 37,611 for the April-August quarter last year, a growth of 10 per cent. Total sales including exports were 45,178 units, as compared to 40,850 for the corresponding April-August quarter last year, a growth of 11 per cent.
