Madarsas at Indo-Nepal border come under scanner

Siddharthnagar, Sep 1 (UNI) With a view to keep a close watch on the Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence Agency (ISI) and banned Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), the intellegence agencies are closely monitoring the activities in madarsas near the Indo-Nepal border.

Sceptical over the madarsa activities for having both foreign students and teachers, intellegence agencies are maintaining a strict vigil on them, official sources said.

There are 108 madarsas in Gorakhpur Zone, of which activities of students and teachers of 25 madarsas have come under the scanner for their international nexus.

Sources revealed that ISI had infilterated into the country through the bordering districts Bahraich, Siddharthnagar, Mahrajganj, Balrampur and Sravasti and strenghtened it's network here in the last 23 years.

Besides, prime facie evidances in the recently surfaced SBI Dumariaganj counterfeit racket also show that the fake currencies were phoned through the international border.

It is no secret that the activities of madrasas on the Indo-Nepal border have been a cause of concern for the intelligence agenecies since long.
