Left ask Centre, Bihar to join hands to provide relief
New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) Deeply concerned over the unprecedented disaster leading to huge loss of lives and displacement of families in Bihar, the Left parties today asked the Centre and the State government to pool resources to provide immediate relief and rehabilitation to the affected and not indulge in any blame game.
They also called upon the UPA government to take up with the Nepal government the issue of maintenance of the Kosi embankments, the breach of which has led to the present floods and change of the course of the river.
CPI(M) polit bureau said here in a statement that the people deprived of their homes and livelihood were suffering, a collective effort must be made to help them and prevent the recurrence of floods, CPI National Secretary D Raja told UNI.
The CPM said it had given a call to all its units to mobilise financial and material help.
It also appealed to all citizens to donate generously for relief and rehabilitation of the people in Bihar.
