Atal Behari Vajpayee concerned over flood in his constituency

Lucknow, Sep 1 (UNI) Former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has expressed concern over the flood situation in his parliamentary constituency of Lucknow.

Though it is highly unlikely that the veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader would contest the next Lok Sabha election, but his long association with Lucknow has caused his concern for the people.

His long-time confidant and close aide Shiv Kumar was here on behest of Member of Parliament from Lucknow to have a feel of the intensity of the disaster and subsequent relief measures.

According to state BJP sources, Mr Kumar would apprise the former Prime Minister of the flood situation and the relief steps undertaken by the state and district administration.

Sources said the veteran leader was unable to come to Lucknow owing to bad health hence sent his representative to take stock of the situation.

Several areas of the state capital had witnessed waterlogging due to overflowing river Gomti and posh locality like Gomtinagar also got flooded. Though the water in the Gomti was showing downward trend, many areas were still experiencing flood like situation.
