Sikkim Govt to donate Rs one crore for Bihar flood victims
Gangtok, Aug 31 (UNI) The Sikkim government has decided to contribute an aid of Rs 1 crore to relief and rehabilitation works of those affected by the massive floods in Bihar.
This decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting held yesterday where deep and heartfelt sympathies towards all the families of those who have lost their lives, property and homes was recorded on behalf of Sikkimese people and the state government.
The Cabinet, which observed two minutes silence in memory of those affected by the floods has also decided to contribute an amount of Rs.1 crore on behalf of the people and Government of Sikkim towards the relief and rehabilitation, the Chief minister office today said.
In addition to this aid, members of the Council of Ministers of Sikkim have also volunteered to contribute their one month's salary towards to the cause.
Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has expressed his deep shock and anguish over the loss of so many lives and property in the unprecedented flood.
