Punjab: Father kills daughters

Bathinda, Aug 31: A father allegedly murdered his two teenaged daughters and then tried to commit suicide in Chak Fathesinghwala village in the district on Sunday, Aug 31, police sources stated.

According to reports, Gurmail Singh hacked his daughters, Rajbir Kaur (15 ) and 19-year old Prabjot Kaur to death with an axe early this morning while they were still asleep. Later he consumed a pesticide and tried to end his life, but was saved by neighbours who rushed him to a private hospital here.

On the statement of the mother of the two deceased daughters, the police registered a murder case under sections 302 of the IPC against Gurmail Singh at the Nathana police station. Though residents of the village claimed that Gurmail Singh was mentally depressed, the police has begun investigations.
