Environment audit done at Tuticorin Port
Chennai, Aug 31: Tuticorin Port, the first ISO 9002 certified Port in the country accredited with ISO 9001:2000, has conducted Environmental Management System Audit (ISO 14001:2004) on August 28 and 29 to sustain its certificate.
Port Trust Chairman G J Rao, in a release here today, said a team of auditors in different fields from Indian Register of Quality System (IRQS) audited various activities of the Port as a whole for its commitment to environment.
The audit team suggested various measures to maintain and improve the environment and the port was committed to implement them.
He thanked the IRQS audit team and also congratulated the port users, trade union leaders, officers, employees and workers for their support for the successful completion of the renewal audit.
The port would soon get the renewal certificate of Environmental Management System Audit (ISO 14001:2004), the release added.
