K'taka to introduce new textile and sports policies
Bangalore, Aug 30 (UNI) Karnataka Textile Minister Gulihatti Shekhar today said the State Government was planning to introduce a new textile policy soon, focusing on additional manpower to meet the needs of the growing textile sector in the State.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the department was planning to lessen the pressure on the city, which had been mushroomed with garment units. The department will start new units in Doddaballapur, among others.
Mr Shekhar, who also holds portfolio of Youth Services said the department was also planning to introduce a new sports policy with an integrated approach for an overall development.
Both the policies would be placed before the cabinet for its approval, he added.
The Government was also planning to introduce an insurance policy for the sportspersons, he said, adding the procedure would be completed in a week.
