Traffic goes haywire following Trinamool blockade
Kolkata, Aug 29 (UNI) Movement of vehicular traffic was thrown out of gear in different parts of West Bengal today as supporters of the Opposition Trinamool Congress put up one-hour road blockade, demanding return of farmers' land in Singur.
As an indefinite dharna was going on near the Tata Motors' small car project at Singur, political activists squatted at improtant intersections throughout the state between 4 PM and 5 PM.
Thousands of vehicles were caught in a severe traffic snarl as the occupants had a harrowing time.
Many vehicles tried to take a detour to reach destinations leading to heavy traffic jam even on the roads, which were not barred.
