MP: Implementation of Fileria Control Programme

Bhopal, Aug 29: Madhya Pradesh is all set to administer Diethylcarbamazine (DEC) tablets to more than 1.5 crore Fileria-affected people in 11 endemic districts on National Filaria Day, November 11.

Official sources on Friday, Aug 29 said that the chief secretary would take part in state task force meeting on Aug 30 and would discuss about the drafting of an action plan for the effective implementation of Filaria Control Programme and other activities.

A target has been set to eradicate the disease till 2015 by Centre and aiming this National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme is being underway.

In 2007, 89.72 per cent target of administering DEC tablets to the patients have been achieved and 1,36,48 people have been benifitted from these tablets from filaria, sources added.
