Festival allocation of foodgrains

New Delhi, Aug 29 (UNI) The Government has allocated over two lakh tonnes of rice and wheat to four States of Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra and Tripura for the ensuing festival season.

The foodgrains are being allocated for distribution through Public Distribution System (PDS).

The details of foodgrains allocated to these States for September through December 2008 are as under: State Quantities of Rice and Wheat allocated (in tonnes) Rice Wheat Total Kerala 30,000 20,000 50,000 Goa 6,000 4,000 10,000 Maharashtra --- 140,000 140,000 Tripura --- 3,000 3,000 Total: 36,000 167,000 203,000.
