UP govt asks Centre for Rs 100 crore package to counter Naxals
Jaunpur, Aug 28 (UNI) Taking a serious note of the Naxal activities in Sonbhadra district, the Uttar Pradesh government has asked the Centre to provide Rs 100 crore for upgradation and modernisation of police in the district.
Talking to mediapersons today, Inspector General of Police (Varanasi) Praveen Kumar Singh, who was here on a two-day visit, said the police need better facilities like helipad, modernised weapons and such others to counter the Naxals in the district.
The state government had sent a proposal of Rs 100 crore and as soon as the fund is pooled in the work on this path will begin, he added.
He further briefed the newsmen regarding the law and order situation in his zone.
