Sagar Meghe's resignation accepted
Mumbai, Aug 28 (UNI) Maharashtra Legislative Council Chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh today accepted the resignation of Sagar Dattatraya Meghe, who had submitted his letter to chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh last week.
Sagar, the elder son of former NCP heavyweight Datta Meghe, had resigned from BJP, which he was representing in the Council.
After acceptance of the resignation of a Member, the Chairman has to make an announcement in the House. According to that norm, an announcement of Sagar's resignation will be made in ensuing session of Legislative Council vide Maharashtra Legislative Council Act 266(5). The notification to this effect has been published in Maharashtra Government Gazette of August 26, an official release said here today.
Sagar's father, Datta Meghe, once a close confidant of Sharad Pawar, quit the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and joined the Congress recently. The senior Mr Meghe quit the NCP after failing to get re-nominated on the expiry of his term in the Rajya Sabha.
